“10″ Brings Great New FeaturesFirebox® X Core™, Peak™, and Edge security appliances are about to have newer, more powerful appliance software powering them. We’ve loaded the WatchGuard® web site with updated datasheets, hotsheets, and web content to give you the specifics, but features at a glance include:

  • Integrated SSL VPN for secure remote access via an SSL VPN thin client
  • Single sign-on with Transparent Firebox Authentication via Active Directory
  • New virus outbreak detection in spamBlocker stops email-borne viruses with near 100%accuracy rate
  • Enhanced IPS signature set and engine makes Gateway AV/IPS faster and stronger
  • HTTPS in WebBlocker and 54-category support allows for more specific surfing restrictions to increase productivity and protection
  • SNMPv3 support secures device communications, with fallback to SNMPv2
  • New reporting is faster and more flexible, with a great new look and feel*  
  • Expanded quarantine for AV lets administrator review email caught by AV engine
  • VoIP and Video conferencing support

*The new reporting capability is great, but it’s different. Customers who have grown accustomed to the existing reporting will want to thoroughly review the documentation before they make the upgrade.General Availability for Fireware®, Fireware Pro, Edge, and Edge Pro v10 appliance software will be announced shortly.
