Here at Sage Software Customer Support, we provide you with up-to-date technical information. Because you subscribe to a Sage support plan, we are sending you the following support article:
“Access violation @ address 40003461 in module rtl60.bpl, write of address XXXXXXXX when previewing reports in Sage BusinessWorks.” “This printer driver requires more space than is allocated. (Needed XXXX;Alloc: 8096) when printing or previewing reports in Sage BusinessWorks.” It is our recommendation that you wait to install Microsoft .Net 3.0 or the XPS Document Imaging Essentials Pack until Sage BusinessWorks completes its testing and has an update available to address these changes. If you have downloaded these updates and you receive these error messages we have found success in trying alternate print drivers. If after testing alternate drivers you continue to receive error messages please contact customer support at 800-447-5700 or email: support.bw@sage.com Thank you for your commitment to Sage Software. We welcome opportunity to serve you further. |

seems like now all you have to do is add HPLJ1100 printer, set as default and then bw will print reports. Why does a customer have to get a support program to get this answered?

Thank you so much Mike Huff for that info! I was going insane! Just got a new PC – it came with XP Pro (not Vista) yet I was still getting the error message about “this printer driver requires more space…” – I found this page – saw your response – installed HPLJ1100 driver even though I don’t have that printer but what a pain in the neck to have to change my default printer to the 1100 every time I need to print a report in Business Works! I too don’t have a support contract and don’t need one – this will literally be about the 3rd time in 6 years that I’ve run into any problems.

Continuing down this path…I have installed the fake printer and set it as default on all workstations but every once in awhile BusinessWorks will completely ignore the default printer, use the evil printer as the default and BAM, error message.
How do I get BusinessWorks to understand that I get to decide which printer is the default? Does it store printer history in the registry? ini file? There’s no consistency to it at all.

I had the same problem after purchasing a new printer. (worked fine on the old one) Here’s the workaround that I use. To view report select old printer from the list. Then in the report instead of hitting the print icon right click anywhere on the page and select print from the list then on the subsequent print screen reselect the new printer and it works! annoying but not overly difficult.. Hope this helps

forgot to mention too that I tried removing the microsoft xps document imaging pack from my xp system with a downloaded removal tool.. That didn’t accomplish anything

HAS SAGE ISSUED SOME TYPE OF SOFTWARE PATCH TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. IF SO, HOW CAN WE GET THE PATCH. THIS WORK AROUND SYSTEM IS VERY FRUSTRATING, AND DOES NOT WORK WELL ON REPORTS THAT DO NOT HAVE PREVIEW. THANKS

we are having this error too. very frustrating. we also are having the same error pop up when emailing invoices. fortunately two of our workstations are NOT having this error and are allowing documents to print. the two uneffected stations do have .NET Framework 3.0 installed, but for some reason they will print. confusing. sage needs to release a patch soon

I’m having this problem with a client. There has been no need to buy support and we just update payroll with new tax tables. I got reports to work with your comments, however how do you print payroll checks you aren’t able to preview and switch. We have now had to hang an old printer on just to do payroll checks.

i am having the same problem, can anyone tell me if they have fixed the problem yet?

Thanks for the info, we had that same error when installing a new printer. The “Ghost” printer works great. Thanks!

I tried that solution & it helped.
This “fix” could be summarized by saying, :
Add a printer to the client workstation’s that have the issue.
As long as it is the default, the user’s should then be able to select another printer to generate the job & then print to that.
Technically, if you have adobe distiller, you could make a fake printer that generate’s PDF’s. Then print the PDF’s. Then you probably won’t need to hang an old printer off to print check’s. Or un-install MS .net 3.0 on 1 PC that no one uses’ for anything else, till you migrate to newer software.

I am running Sage Businessworks client/server on 2 server windows servers 2008. One as App server with the database running and the other as citrix server running the client software. I had the exactly same issue, and the trick with the HPLJ1100 worked on my citrix server. I am glad I found this website. Any feedback from sage regarding this issue? is there a patch available?
Thanks
